Houghton Main are searching for a new permanent manager after the curtain came down on Nathan Simms’ second spell as manager.
Simms departs because of family and work commitments, 12 months since returning to Houghton – the club he guided to promotion in 2019.
Simms’ assistant Donovan Cotton is in charge for the rest of the season, assisted by Carl Brennan and captain James Byford who has also played an important role over the past month.
Cotton has put himself in the driving seat for the permanent position as he has won four out of four when Simms has been unavailable in recent weeks.
A decision on Simms’ long-term successor will be made at the end of the season.
“We’d like to wish Nathan all the best for the future and we thank him for his efforts during his two spells as manager,” Houghton secretary Carl Brennan told Non League Yorkshire.
“Donovan will take charge of the remaining games and then we’ll make a decision at the end of the season about who will lead us into next season.”
Houghton are next in action on Wednesday night when they host Sheffield Town.
