Danny Clarke came on as substitute in North Ferriby’s play-off semi-final win over Rossington

Danny Clarke’s return to the field was an emotional moment for everyone involved with North Ferriby, according to Chris Bolder.

2015 FA Vase hero Clarke came on as a substitute in the play-offs semi-final win over Rossington Main – ten months after suffering a fractured skull and bleed on the brain during a pre-season friendly.

It was feared he would never play again.

Clarke could appear again in the play-off final with Harrogate Railway tomorrow and Bolder paid tribute to the forward.

“It was a special moment,” Bolder told Non League Yorkshire.

“Lots of us thought we would not see him pull on a Ferriby shirt ever again.

“Danny was determined (the pre-season game at Barton) would not be his last appearance on a football field and he’s worked exceptionally hard and he has been given the green light.

“We were delighted to call upon his services and it was great to see him back out there.

“We probably used him a bit earlier than what we would have liked but we were forced into the change and he managed to come through 45 minutes.

“It stands him in good stead for tomorrow.

“It was great to have him involved and it was a big boost for the full football club and the football community to see him grace the field again after such a horrific incident.”
