Maltby Main 0-3 Worksop Town

Maltby Main manager John Stancliffe

Maltby Main were unsuccessful in their bid to cause one of the greatest upsets in Senior Cup history as second half goals ensured victory for Craig Parry’s Worksop Town.

The Northern Premier League giants got their hands on the trophy thanks to strikes from Liam Hardy, Steven McDonnell and Ben Tomlinson.

Maltby must have had hopes at half-time as in front of over 1000 people at Keepmoat Stadium, the scores were locked at goal-less.

Unfortunately the bow broke on the hour as Hardy netted from close range.

McDonnell then converted a header to place Worksop in full control.

Maltby briefly had hope of a late comeback as they were awarded a penalty with ten minutes to go.

Unfortunately Johnathan Williams’ spot kick was saved by Worksop stopper Seb Malkowski.

Tomlinson added the gloss with two minutes to go.
