FC Humber United have folded after the plan to merge with Askern Miners failed.
The news brings their turbulent history to an end.
Humber began life in the NCEL as East Yorkshire Carnegie before changing their name to East Hull.
After leaving Dunswell Park, they became their latest incarnation.
They spent last season at Selby Town.
Needing a ground for next season at short notice and they approached Askern and talks led to a potential merger.
However, the NCEL say the FA blocked it and the Humber have decided to end their history.
A statement said: “Further to recent announcements over the past few days it has been decided that the club will not be making an affiliation for the 2022/23 football season and therefore will not be competing in any further in football.
“As of now the club will cease to exist and the journey ends.
“Originally it was thought to continue and start all over again locally to the Humber region however this decision has been thought over many times and it is just simply not a viable option to continue.
“We would like to go on record to thank everyone who has supported the club over the past 18 months, the sponsors, partners and those who came to watch us, we certainly didn’t disappoint with the amount of goals scored at both ends of the pitch and entertainment on and off the pitch during last season.
“It has been a pleasure to meet the small number of decent people in non league football within the NCEL and the others that have found happiness in various social media posts over the last few weeks, the time has come to move on and latch onto another clubs downfall behind your keyboards.
“Thank you to all at the NCEL and good luck to the 21 clubs competing in NCEL Division 1 for the 2022/23 season.”
