Lee Elam has resigned as manager of Eccleshill United after three years in charge.
The shock news comes just weeks after Elam almost took them into Step 4 for the first time in the club’s history.
The timing is far from ideal as pre-season is set to start.
A statement said: “Eccleshill United F.C have accepted the resignation of first team manager Lee Elam due to family and work commitments,
“His assistant Asif Hussain has also left.
“We would like to place on record our appreciation and gratitude to both Lee and Asif for all their hard work and dedication during their tenure at our club.
“They both leave on the very best terms and we wish them all the very best in the future.
“With pre-season training and games very soon starting, we have had no time to waste and will be making a separate statement announcing our new manager.”
