A flurry of announcements have been released at Athersley Rec as Jimmy Whitehead begins to unveil his squad for their return to Division One.
Eight players have been revealed and versatile Wombwell Main player Gadhafi Kiwanuka is one of them.
He was a rough diamond who was found last season and he was one of Wombwell’s players of the season.
Young forward Jack Bennett will be wearing the Athersley jersey again after re-signing for the club he served a couple of years ago.
He wore the colours of Worsbrough Bridge, Emley AFC and Stocksbridge Park Steels last season.
Midfielder Jack Carter is another ex-Worsbrough player who has joined the Rec ranks.
Pontefract Collieries youngster Cole Patrick is back after a brief spell with the Rec at the start of last season.
Striker Connor Peace, an ex-Parkgate and Ponte player, will lead the Rec’s attack.
He has played for Wombwell Town in Division One of the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League in recent years.
Popular Jamie Moxon returns another stint with the club.
Also signing is goalkeeper Ethan Blanch along with Shohaib Nazir who played for Wakefield AFC during the 2019/20 season.
