Thackley are ready to push on this season, according to Paddy McGuire.
Thackley were on the brink of closure several years ago, but because of hard work from the committee the club is in great nick and thriving in 2022.
“Absolutely (a lot of people deserve credit), we have come a very long way in four years,” McGuire told Non League Yorkshire.
“The club is in the healthiest position that I’ve ever known it.
“We have had to suffer on-the-pitch to stabilise things off-the-pitch.
“We have managed to stabilise the club doing that and now we want to kick on.”
The finances have allowed McGuire to recruit several new stars.
Non League legend Tom Greaves has joined, along with Aiden Chippendale, Declan Parker, Kieran Suddards, Ryan Basi, Matty Allison and Alex O’Keefe.
McGuire plans to further strengthen.
“It is good to get some fresh lads in to keep the lads on their toes,” he said.
“The quality we have brought is exiting for us and exciting for the fans.
“We’re still going to look to add a couple more.
“During the tail-end of pre-season is when historically we do our business.
“To get seven-or-eight in early doors and then to get a couple more in positions we feel we need to strengthen towards the end of pre-season will be good signs for us going into the season.
“At the minute we have a squad of about 23 or 24.
“Naturally throughout a season some will come in and some will go out.
“As staff we will be a lot more ruthless his year if people are not getting the job done.
“We know we can recruit and we have had a bit of an increase in the budget which we will utilise to the best of our ability.
“The calibre of players we have brought in also attract a better calibre of player also.
“People are going to be looking at Thackley as potentially an exciting team to be part of.”
Historically McGuire has made few changes during a campaign since taking charge in 2018.
However, he is not taking prisoners this year.
“Those people who are not pulling their weight will be moved on this year,” he said.
“We want to progress, the chairman wants to progress and we’re pulling in the same direction.
“The lads have got to get on board with expectations and if they can’t fulfil that then they need to look at doing something else.”
