Nostell Miners Welfare 1-3 Ilkley Town
A second half comeback saw Ilkley Town grab a pre-season victory at Nostell Miners Welfare.
Blake Wood’s long screamer rounded off the win for Sam Dexter’s who had fallen behind in a tight first half.
Brandon Miller bent a superb low cross effort into the right-hand side of the net from just inside the penalty area to give Nostell the lead in the 35th minute.
Star striker Kevin Gonzalez almost equalised instantly as he broke away and watched his goal-bound tipped onto crossbar by goalkeeper Chris Barrow who made a string of excellent saves throughout the afternoon.
Once as Nostell boss Ian Walker rang some changes, Ilkley began to take control.
The deserved equaliser came seven minutes into the second half with Gonzalez tapping home at the back-post.
The visitors remained on the ascendancy and eventually two quick-fire handed them a well-earned win.
Nostell failed to clear their lines for the second goal and their defence was sleeping as captain Harry Brown rolled in Wood who in turn provided George Gomersall with a tap-in.
Wood then stole the headlines with 30-yard screamer from out-wide.
