Interview

Steeton manager Roy Mason

Steeton manager Roy Mason says the North West Counties First Division North is “wide open”.

It is hard to predict how Steeton and the rest of the clubs will do and Mason agrees.

“Bury and Golcar were two of the bigger hitters and Campion have moved across so I would say this year it is going to be really wide open,” Mason told Non League Yorkshire.

“At this stage most teams will think they have an opportunity of having a good season.

“You don’t really see any teams who are real stand-out candidates.

“Obviously Holker will be strong again but it is going to be a wide open season which is good for the league.

“I think from our perspective we want to improve on last year but why can’t we make a push towards trying to make the play-offs?

“On our day we showed last season that we can compete with anybody.”
