Flanagan inflicts first defeat on high-flying Horbury

Liam Flanagan hit the late winner as Selby Town became the first team to beat new kids on the block Horbury Town whose stunning start ended.

Flanagan latched onto new signing Kyle Fish’s through ball and slid the ball past goalkeeper Paul Hagreen to continue Selby’s positive opening to the season.

Selby also had man of the match and their own goalkeeper Jody Barford to thank as he was on top form.

Barford made several good saves to prevent Horbury from taking the lead.

Horbury remain top with 18 points from seven points while Selby are not far behind in sixth with 13.

Horbury host Armthorpe Welfare on Saturday.

Selby go to Retford FC on the same day.
