NPL Division One East
Tadcaster Albion 2-2 Long Eaton United
Nathan Curtis’ last minute penalty appeared to have snatched ten man Tadcaster Albion their long-awaited first win of the season until Long Eaton United launched one last raid to rescue a point.
It was a disappointing finish for Tadcaster who remain winless after 13 games.
In some respect it was a good point as Craig Ogilvie and Neil Sibson’s side were poor in the first half and somewhat fortunate to be only a goal down.
Luke Cox fired Long Eaton in front after a spell of pressure which probably should have yielded moe goals for the visitors.
Tadcaster’s woke up after the break and the equaliser, whilst a bolt out of the blue, was absolutely outstanding.
Cole Roberts cut inside on the left and from the edge of penalty area bent an absolute rocket into the far corner to level the scores.
Tad’s secure position was seemingly weakened when James Beaston was sent off for a second bookable offence heading into the final quarter of an hour.
Long Eaton failed to take advantage and their numerical advantage was not even noticeable.
The game was fizzling out until a handball presented Tadcaster with a penalty.
Substitute Curtis steered the ball home, seemingly winning the contest for Tadcaster.
However, Long Eaton still had time to mount an offensive and Micah Jebbison headed in from close range to deny the home side.
