Selby Town 0-2 Wakefield AFC
Ten man Wakefield AFC’s upturn in form continued with a deserved victory at Selby Town.
Billy Mole and Daniel Hernandez scored in either halves to secure a second consecutive win for Gabe Mozzini’s side.
Despite Jayden Sandhu’s red card close to half-time, Wakefield produced a commanding second half display to claim the three points.
Selby went close to breaking the deadlock with a Liam Flanagan effort in the opening ten minutes but overall it was a disappointing night for the Robins who have now lost six games in a row in all competitions.
A looping header from Mole at the far right post gave Wakefield the lead.
Sandhu could have no complaints over his dismissal for a second bookable offence.
Wakefield could have feared the worst for the second half.
Yet without counting, you could have assumed Wakey were the side with 11 men as Selby rarely threatened.
A tap-in from Hernandez eased any nerves and two nearly became three when Josh Craig burst through and forced a terrific save from goalkeeper Jody Barford.
Selby mounted some late pressure – including a shot against the crossbar – but in reality Wakefield saw out it comfortably.
