Disappointing afternoon for Selby

Toolstation NCEL Division One

Selby Town 0-2 Ollerton Town

Selby Town were unable to record back-to-back victories for the first time since August as a disappointing performance handed Ollerton Town a straight-forward win.

Two first half goals were Selby’s undoing in a game they only created one real clear-cut chance.

Following on the morale-boosting win at Beverley Town last week, Ryan Cooper named a strong eleven and the first ten minutes saw the hosts march forward several times in a positive way.

However, goalkeeper Ben Saynor’s own goal from a Ollerton corner gifted the visitors their opener and it was a long afternoon from there.

Selby responded with a close range effort from their best player Kyle Fish which was saved by stopper.

Ollerton then went down the other end and grabbed their second goal.

Sam Geeves pounced on the rebound from a saved effort to score a simple tap-in.

Those who expected Selby to come out all guns blazing for the second half were sadly mistaken.

Apart from bits of pressure, all the dangerous goal-mouth action happened at the other end as Ollerton had a few chances to score a third.
