West Riding County Cup
Brighouse Town won 4-1 on penalties in their West Riding County Cup second round tie at Bradford (Park Avenue).
The ties had been level at 1-1 at full-time as last year’s finalists Brighouse had fought back to take it to a shootout.
Youthful Avenue, whose side made up of their academy squad bar Eddie Church and Harrison Hopper, went ahead in the 14th minute through Zak Kersey.
Alex King equalised on the hour when he was played into a one-on-one situation.
Corey Gregory scored Brighouse’s first penalty.
Their goalkeeper Jamie Hassall saved Harrison Hopper’s effort and that set things up.
Church converted his against his old club to make it 3-1 but it made no difference as Myron Gibbons smashed in the final spot kick.
