Nash Connolly scored a hat-trick as Hemsworth Miners Welfare bounced back by winning 5-2 against Thackley on a bitterly cold night in Fitzwilliam.
Hemsworth quickly gained control as Connolly netted from close range before Ben Gelder scored a sensational goal with a thunderbolt from a seemingly impossible angle.
The contest was effectively over at half-time as Connolly placed Marcel Chipamunga’s fine pinpoint cross in the net.
Hemsworth had numerous chances prior to Tom Greaves reducing the deficit.
Another cross then led to Hemsworth scoring again. The experienced Cameron Clark whipped a delicious ball for the unmarked Gelder to rise and head past Luke Wilson.
Gelder turned provider with the assist for Connolly’s third goal.
Ben Grech-Brooksbank scored Thackley’s second goal.
