Star Emley AFC striker Joe Jagger suffered a bad injury at Barton Town last night.
In a Wednesday morning statement, Emley said: “Jags’ family have provided us with an update from Hull Royal Infirmary where Joe was taken to by ambulance last night.
“X-rays have unfortunately confirmed a double break to the right tibia and fibula. He will need an operation which will hopefully happen today or tomorrow.
“Joe is said to be in good spirits but hasn’t slept.”
In an earlier statement, Emley said: “From the sidelines it looked an innocuous challenge but it was clear there was a serious issue as Jagger was in some distress and, first on the scene, Emley physio John Mason immediately asked for an ambulance to be called.
“With some wait for assistance to arrive, the match referee rightly abandoned the game.
“Emley AFC are incredibly grateful for the care and support of the Barton Town volunteers Alyssa, Lynn, and Swans’ supporter Will, who went above and beyond to assist John with treating Joe and making sure he was warm and as comfortable as they could until the ambulance arrived.
“Our thanks to them, everyone else from Barton Town, the match officials and the messages of support we have already received for Joe via social media.”
