Paul Marshall says Garforth Town have done remarkably well to be in the race for second place.
Marshall claims Garforth’s success is a true underdog story and he puts it down to keeping a core squad together.
“I don’t what I put (our success) down to,” Marshall told Non League Yorkshire.
“I think you just get a good group of lads.
“We don’t change the team much – it is the same group of lads who have been with us all season.
“I did try to sign one recently but he went to another club because they were doubling his money.
“We can’t compete with other clubs.
“When you go on budgets and the ridiculous amounts of money teams are paying to players, it is embarrassing.
“I think we have a good budget but bar three or four other clubs, everyone is paying a lot more than we are.
“We’re batting above our average.
“I have a budget which I work to and if we achieve second or third with the budget we have then we would be massively overachieving.
“It would be a huge achievement.”
Third-placed Garforth are seven points behind Winterton Rangers in second with ten games to go.
Last week’s defeat to Emley AFC was a blow but Marshall insists the Miners are still in the race for the runners-up spot.
“It is still wide open,” he said.
“I said we needed ten wins from the last 13 games and we have had two wins and one defeat.
“We still need eight more wins.
“I think we have to beat Winterton and Penistone at home (to have a chance of finishing second).
“If we play like (we did against Emley) we won’t beat either of them.
“It is down to us and we know we’re as good as anyone if we perform to how we can.”
Garforth play Albion Sports at Bradford (Park Avenue) tomorrow. Kick off is 4pm.
