A determined second half performance earned Thackley a 3-1 derby day victory at Albion Sports along with their first win in three matches.
After a goal-less first half, goals from Tristan Innes, Mike Garrod and Tom Dugdale secured a priceless win for Thackley.
The result also lifts them out of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division relegation zone and puts them level on points with local rivals Liversedge.
Albion were left to rue Asif Hussain’s penalty miss midway through the first half when the home side looked the most likely to score of the two teams.
Albion had won the spot kick after Brice Tiani was taken down. Hussain stepped up and he could only watch as his thunderous attempt down the middle of the goal came back off the crossbar.
That must have injected some real belief into Thackley – who had three players drop out on the day – because the chances began to flow at the other end.
On the stroke of half-time and for the first time in the match, Albion’s defence was exposed. Substitute Innes was free at the back-post and goalkeeper Jack Bentley kept the scores goal-line by throwing himself at the Thackley attacker’s goal-bound shot.
Bentley could do little to stop Innes at the start of the second half as the attacker put his side in front with a close range finish.
A penalty from Garrod then put Thackley on the brink of victory with 20 minutes to go.
Albion did briefly receive a bit of hope when Omar Habib turned Marcus Edwards’ low attempt past Thackley goalkeeper Tyler D’Cruz.
But, the tiny glimmer of hope was firmly gone within two minutes as Albion’s former player Dugdale sneaked in behind the home defence to seal a memorable night for Thackley.
