Paul Quinn is not getting carried away by Brighouse Town’s superb start to the Evo Stik Division One North season.
Brighouse have put the cat amongst the pigeons as they have beaten the likes of Spennymoor and drawn with Glossop – results which saw them occupy a play-offs spot last week.
Quinn told Non League Yorkshire: “We might be the surprise package for everyone else, but we are on track to be where we want to be at this stage in the season.
“We have been building since we got promoted and we’re happy to remain as the surprise package, but it is not about where we are in October.
“People can look at the league and say ‘Brighouse have had a good start’, but I don’t care where we are now.
“I’m not looking at the table now because it counts for nothing right now.
“Yes we have had a great start, but we have to back it up for the remainder of the season.
“We have given ourselves a very good platform and we have found different ways of playing because we have grinded some results out.
“We are moving in the right direction and keep improving.
“Brighouse should not be in the top five if you go on the resources that everyone has, but we’re going to give it our best shot and we’ll see where we are in April.”
Brighouse take a break from league action tomorrow as they are travelling to Warrington Town for their FA Trophy tie.
Quinn’s men are then at home on Monday night for the visit of Harrogate Town in the West Riding County Cup.
