It’s only November and Ash Flynn was able to smash another goal-scoring record after a double in AFC Emley’s easy 3-1 win over Parkgate in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.
Flynn’s strikes took his tally to 46 and made him the record holder for the most goals in a Toolstation NCEL Division One season.
Heanor Town striker Kieron Debrouwer’s 56 goal tally from 2014 is the next item on the agenda for Flynn.
Emley’s passage to the third round never came under threat at the Welfare Ground.
The home side, who thrashed Parkgate in the FA Cup earlier this season, had the visitors firmly under control and were rarely put under pressure in the 90 minutes.
Flynn’s long distance free kick ensured a great start for Emley and the chances then flowed.
Flynn was denied his second goal by Parkgate goalkeeper Ben Brunt before Kieron Ryan scored from close range.
Emley put the game beyond their visitors midway through the second half. Flynn broke into the box and easily went round Brunt. He then scored the record-breaker with a bit of help from the post after shooting from a difficult angle.
There were moments when the fourth could have arrived, but Parkgate managed to avoid conceding another and went onto to score a goal of their own in the final few minutes.
Emley allowed Jake Ashton room to run at them down the left and he found Alex Lill waiting to score from close range.
