Mick Norbury has resigned as manager of Glasshoughton Welfare.
Norbury quit the role on Sunday morning in a phone call to chairman Miles, hours after the 3-1 defeat to Winterton Rangers.
Miles, who managed Glasshoughton last season, and Norbury’s assistant Roly Lanes will hold the fort for Glasshoughton’s trip to Hull United on Tuesday,
A Glasshoughton statement said: “Mick was utterly shocked by the display of his players in the 3-1 defeat to Winterton and despite his positive post match comments after the game he decided overnight that it was in his, and the club’s best interests that he should resign.
“The committee at Glasshoughton Welfare would like to put on record their thanks to Mick for his efforts at the club in the past six months.”
Norbury was appointed in the summer and was tasked with reviving Glasshoughton’s fortunes after a disappointing Premier Division campaign last time around.
Glasshoughton are advertising for his replacement and interested parties are asked to contact secretary Frank Machlachlan at frank.maclachlan@btinternet.com.
The closing date for applications is Friday 4th December.
