Handsworth Parramore assistant manager Mick Godber claims that the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title race is too close to call.
As the campaign reaches December, five teams have an excellent chance of lifting the title – including Handsworth, who potentially could go top with their games in hand.
Godber, number two to Peter Duffield, told Non League Yorkshire: “If you look at the table, if we win our games in hand we go top.
“But, two weeks ago we played Tadcaster and they were the first side to give us a proper hiding since we have been here.
“They played us off the park and hopefully that’s our only bad day.
“The league is more-or-less the same as I said it would be in August. Clipstone are the surprise side, but everybody would have said Tadcaster, Worksop, Handsworth, Cleethorpes.
“I still maintain that the league is better because there is not much difference between top and bottom as much as it has been in the past.
“I don’t think anyone is going walk away with it either.
“We’ve not done a lot wrong. We have lost two league games all season and we don’t know when to lie down like we didn’t against Hallam.
“There’s a long to go, but if we play like we did against Tadcaster again then we won’t win anything.”
Tomorrow is a big day for the title race as alongside leaders Tadcaster’s home clash with Clipstone, Handsworth are the ‘away team’ at Sandy Lane for the derby with promotion rivals Worksop Town.
Godber added: “It will be great atmosphere because Worksop will have 500 or 600 people here.
“It is a game you look forward to playing in. I’m looking forward to being involved and I can’t play.”
