Simon Houghton is returning to Glasshoughton Welfare as their new joint manager, alongside Craig Wilkinson.
The pair were appointed this evening after a successful interview. Former Pontefract and Shaw Lane Aquaforce boss Houghton was Craig Elliott’s assistant at Glasshoughton during their promotion-winning Toolstation NCEL Division One season in 2011-12.
Wilkinson, who has a playing background with Hemsworth, Worsbrough Bridge and AFC Emley, worked with Houghton at Kinsley Boys last season.
They replace Mick Norbury who resigned last week and their first task is to ensure Glasshoughton have a side for the visit of Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday.
“The role works for me and it works for Craig so we move on from there,” Houghton told Non League Yorkshire.
“It is not a brilliant situation we have inherited, but there are some good players signed on. We have a bit of ringing round now.
“There is a couple of players leaving so we will be looking to bring in two or three new players for Saturday.”
One player leaving is Nathan Perks who is expected to sign for Selby Town.
