Shaw Lane Aquaforce manager Craig Elliott is refusing to panic over the size of the gap between them and leaders Stafford Rangers.

Aquaforce homed in on Stafford after a superb October and November, but postponements and FA Trophy commitments have worked out well for Rangers.

The Evo Stik Division One South leaders are 12 points clear of third-placed Aquaforce, who have three games in hand.

“It is disappointing that Stafford have been able to build a points margin up through no fault of our own,” Elliott told Non League Yorkshire.

“It is such a shame because we got to within one point of them.

“It looks like a similar situation to what happened with us and Tadcaster last season.

“It worked for us when we came from behind with games in hand to win the title, but I’d rather have the points.

“I’m a bit laid back about it though because there’s nothing we can do.

“I think the important thing now is that we make sure we get in the top four. That is the current aim.

“It has fallen well for Stafford, but there is a long way to go.”

Shaw Lane are due to visit Daventry Town tomorrow.
