Brighouse Town 0-2 Warrington Town
Brighouse Town were unable to prevent Warrington Town extending their lead at the top of the Evo Stik Division One table to nine points.
Second half goals from Ciaran Kilheeney and Joseph Holt secured Warrington’s 2-0 victory.
It was a game of fine margins. Brighouse, arguably helped by the lack of a Saturday match, matched their opponents, who had a exerting battle with title rivals Northwich two days earlier, during the first half.
The opening half contained few moments of note apart from a 60 second ripple that saw Warrington’s Phil Dean test Chandler Hallwood before Ryan Hall almost scored with a thunderous effort for Brighouse.
Whatever was said in the Brighouse dressing room at the interval went out of the window after a terrible start to the second half. The home side failed to clear their lines from a corner and after a bit of ping-pong, Kilheeney forced the ball home.
Warrington comfortably held-on as Brighouse were only able to cause one major scare. The visitors were lucky to avoid conceding an equaliser as Ernest Boafo’s header was cleared off-the-line by Danny O’Donnell.
Shaun Reid’s men seized their piece of luck by putting the game beyond doubt with a fantastically executed strike from Holt, who only entered the field two minutes beforehand.
