Nick Guest is developing a solid reputation for scoring last minute goals, but this one wasn’t enough to keep Alan Semley in his job.

Young striker Guest successfully negotiated struggling Goole out of a tricky situation which saw them staring down the barrel of losing to Tividale, a side destined to finish bottom.

The draw, in a game that they controlled, extended Goole’s winless run to nine games, a stat that led to the club parting company with Semley on Sunday morning.

Despite a positive opening 15 minutes, Goole fell behind after losing possession – Demetri Brown picked up the ball and went through to score.

Former Pontefract Collieries striker Aaron Moxam equalised not long after after some good build-up from Goole.

Goole continued to dominate for the rest of the first half and most of the second. Goole had several chances. Matt Semley went through twice and should have scored. Goole also hit the post.

Then the sucker-punch. Christopher Sterling’s goal for Tividale with just eight minutes remaining after turning in Shaquille Whittington’s cross from the left-wing.

Fortunately Guest was there to score in the dying seconds from David Taylor’s cross.

Goole AFC: Beaurepaire, Robson, Taylor, Varley, Colbear, Cotton, Booth, Johnson, Semley, Moxam, Guest. Subs: Hutchinson, Law, Steeple, Waring.
