Stocksbridge’s Mick Grimmer has been nominated by the Evo Stik League for the FA Groundsman’s of the Year award.

Grimmer, who doubles up as the club’s secretary and groundsman, has ensured that the Steels have been playing on an immaculate surface this season.

Stocksbridge have been regularly hosting fixtures during the recent bad weather when nearly every match elsewhere has been postponed.

The pitch has also helped Chris Hilton attract players to Bracken Edge in the past 18 months.

The Evo Stik League have also nominated the groundsmen from Blyth Spartans, Hyde United, Loughborough Dynamo and Nantwich Town.

The result will revealed in late July at an event at St Georges Park in Burton.
