Captain Danny South maintained Ossett Albion’s play-offs charge by scoring the second half winner, which also inflicted more misery on Scarborough Athletic.

Steve Kittrick remains without a league victory since taking over the Seadogs, whose last win in the league was in early November. A campaign which began as a promotion battle is slowly turning into a relegation fight.

Scarborough’s afternoon got off to a bad start as Shane Killock was forced to go off after receiving a blow to the face from a strong challenge from Adam Jones.

Rob Bordman was a dangerous presence for Albion and he had two good chances towards the end of the first half.

Ossett forced the breakthrough midway the second half as South rose the highest to head home past goalkeeper Nick Draper.

Scarborough finished the game with ten men as Draper saw red for hauling down Bordman, who was clear on goal. Tom McNamee was forced to play in the closing minutes between the sticks as the Seadogs had used all three substitutes.

Ossett Albion: Souter, Thompson, Hardaker, Paylor, South (captain), Nicholson, Brunt (Muller), Kerr, Bordman, Matthews, Jones (Claisse). Subs unused: Wigley, Potter, Bennett.
Scarborough Athletic: Draper, Robson, Peat (captain), Merris, Lisles, Killock, Flint, Davidson, Blott, Corner, Matthews. Subs: Forrester, McNamee, Birch.
