Thackley 1-1 Pontefract Collieries
Brad Kerr’s last minute penalty earned Pontefract Collieries a potentially crucial point.
It was not a bad point considering that Pontefract had to play the first half with ten men. Goalkeeper Liam Corbett was a busy man, but Pontefract came the closest to scoring as Kingsley Weatherald hit the crossbar.
Thackley took the lead on the hour. Andrew Wood got the goal after pouncing on the rebound from Tom Dugdale’s strike which hit the post.
The Collieries gained their point after an off-the-ball incident saw a penalty awarded. Thackley substitute Niall O’Brien was shown the red card and Kerr fired low and hard from 12-yards to equalise.
Thackley: Coleing, Bentham (captain), White, Pett, Hargreaves, Snowden, Cohen, Whiteley, Wood, Brown, Dugdale. Subs: Farrell, Littlefair, O’Brien, Hudson, Garrod.
Pontefract Collieries: L Corbett, James, J Corbett, Rouse, Sykes, Reece, Kerr, Joseph (captain), Weatherald, Palfrey, Whitehouse. Sub: Dixon.
Handsworth Parramore moved up to joint second after over-powering Barton Town Old Boys in a 4-3 win.
Kieran Wells, back from suspension, scored twice in a game that included a Richard Adams wonder goal. Gareth Griffith got Handsworth’s fourth.
Gareth Barlow, Ash Dexter and Alex Sherwood struck for Barton.
Armthorpe Welfare jumped above Parkgate in the battle to avoid the drop after the James Walker fired home the second half winner in Rotherham.
