Captain Sam Colbear was the hero as Goole snatched three priceless points at the death to avoid dropping into the bottom two.

With Loughborough Dynamo beating Sheffield FC, it was a vital victory for Lee Morris and his side.

Luck has not been on Goole’s side in recent matches where they have lost by the odd goal. A good start gave Goole a platform. Midfielder Bobby Johnson beat Daventry’s offside trap and raced through to open the scoring after just ten minutes.

Goole were pinned back straight after the interval. Panzo Antonio converted Daventry’s penalty, an equaliser that was followed up by Kieran Fitzgerald giving Goole the lead.

With the likes of heavyweight new signing Joe Thornton and Nick Guest on the field, Goole did not need to panic. Goole equalised instantly as Guest scored from the penalty spot.

The match was into the last few seconds when Colbear sweetly struck the winner from the edge of the penalty area.

Goole AFC: Nicholson, Steeple, Taylor, Robson, Varley, Colbear (captain), Johnson, Cotton, Guest, Joynes, Booth. Subs: Morris, Kay, Creasley, Thornton.
