Terry Hewlett is stepping down as chairman of Knaresborough Town after over 20 years at the helm.
Hewlett has overseen Knaresborough’s rise from being a lowly West Yorkshire League club into a thriving NCEL club. He has also been in control during the transformation of Manse Lane.
Hewlett will stand down at the club’s AGM.
“This is certainly one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make and one I can assure I gave much thought to,” he said.
“To say I have been proud and privileged to be Chairman of Knaresborough Town, for over 20 years now, is an understatement of the highest magnitude, in fact words cannot describe the pride I feel.
“I have enjoyed the terrific support and comradeship of so many good people it is impossible to begin to mention names here.
“This club has been a part of my life now for many many years , as a player, committee member and chairman.
“When I look back at how far we have come, both in terms of the infrastructure of the club and ground coupled with the progress of the teams and the quality of the football now produced, then I cannot help but feel immensely proud.
“Of course none of this would have been possible without your loyal support, again for this I am immensely grateful and I am absolutely confident your support for the club will continue long into the future.
“In short I feel it is now time to and spend a bit more time with Ann and Colette.”
