Goals from Luke Hinsley, Bailey Gooda and an own goal from Hyde’s Sam Fitton saw Frickley run out comfortable winners against struggling Hyde United.

Manager Karl Rose was boosted by the return of Tyler Williams following an ankle injury and he replaced Jake Ellam whose position was filled by Tom Davie dropping deeper.

Jacob Hazel’s run almost put the Blues head in the 7th minute but most of the play in the opening fifteen minutes was in midfield. Davie saw his long range effort fly just over the bar as the Blues pressed forwards.

Luke Hinsley put the Blues ahead in the 23rd minute from close range, blasting a loose ball into the roof of the net whilst Bailey Gooda scored his first goal for the club to make it 2-0 five minutes later.

Davie went close again just before half time but was replaced by Jake Ellam at half time.

The Blues extended their lead five minutes into the second half when Sam Fitton deflected a Blues cross past his stranded ‘keeper and into his own net.

Macaulay Parkinson almost made it four when he burst clear but Kieran Harrison in the Hyde goal made a fine save to deny him.

Little was seen of the visitors in attack but some neat approach play was snuffed out by the outstanding John Cyrus leaving goalkeeper Sebastian Malkowski with an easy afternoon.

Frickley Athletic: Malkowski, Akeroyd, Davie (Ellam 45), Parkinson (Wood 83), Cyrus, Ible, Armstrong (Bruce 72), Gooda, Hazel, Hinsley, Williams. Unused subs. Stratford, Hood.
