Evo Stik Division One South
Lee Morris wants to see Goole AFC battle for a top ten finish next season.
Goole are preparing for the final three games of season in the knowledge that their Evo Stik status is safe because of Daventry Town’s resignation.
Survival was the objective when Morris was appointed in February. Now Morris is aiming to raise the bar at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds.
“Me and the chairman (Steve Shorthouse) had a chat on Saturday just about next season,” Morris told Non League Yorkshire.
“Nearly all the players in the dressing room are young players and another year under their belts is a massive one. I think two or three of them can go on and really make something of themselves at a decent level.
“In terms of recruiting in the summer, it depends on who comes available and what the budget is. At the minute, I’ve asked the lads to fight for their shirts for next season and that’s what they have been doing.
“I don’t want to be in the situation we have been again. It has been made easier with Daventry pulling out, but a top ten finish next season is my aim.
“Even if we only add one or two lads, I think with the lads we have, a top ten finish is achievable.”
Goole are away at Sheffield FC this weekend.
