Evo Stik Premier Division
Buxton 0-2 Frickley Athletic
Frickley Athletic won at Buxton for the first time in 19 seasons to strengthen their chances of finishing seventh.
The Blues made just one change from Saturdays’ win over Barwell with Jameel Ible available again after a two match suspension, he slotted into the back three with Louis Bruce making way. The Bucks lined up with ex Blue’s loanee George Grayson at left back.
The Blues started strongly with leading scorer Jacob Hazel volleying over following a knockdown from Ible in the 3rd minute. Combative Macauley Parkinson was then booked in the 9th minute for shirt pull after being spoken to moments earlier by the referee. Luke Hinsley, who had an outstanding game then cleared the bar with a shot in the 17th minute before the deadlock was broken in the 38th minute. A free kick 30 yards out by the touchline by Ross Armstrong was swung in perfectly and Tom Davie headed home powerfully to score his 6th goal of the campaign.
In the 38th minute keeper Seb Malkowski again emphasised his importance to the side with what has been described as the save of the season, soaring to his right to tip a thunderbolt from Grayson onto the bar before collecting the rebound from the toe of the in rushing striker. A truly outstanding stop.
Tyler Williams grabbed his 5th goal of the season in the 58th minute latching onto a flick on from Hinsley and shooting from the edge of the box past Myles Wright in the home goal who probably should have done better.
The Blues had a number of further chances to increase their lead with Hinsley twice firing wide. Although the home side made a couple of changes they were to no effect as the Blues coasted to full time.
