Glasshoughton Welfare need a new goalkeeper after Ben Saynor decided to join Pontefract Collieries.

Pontefract put seven days’ notice on Saynor last week and the former Nostell Miners Welfare stopper has chosen to join Craig Parry’s team. He has briefly played for Pontefract in the past.

It leaves Glasshoughton urgently needing a goalkeeper, with the new season just two weeks away.

New joint managers Darren Holmes and Lee Vigars had been happy with the squad, but losing Saynor is a major blow.

Glasshoughton have been given an away game at Hall Road Rangers on the opening day of the season.
