Handsworth Parramore 4-0 Odd Down
The Toolstation Cup is staying in the North after Handsworth Parramore breezed past Odd Down at Sandy Lane.
Northern Counties East League title sponsors Toolstation hold the final every year to raise money for various charities, including the RNLI Flood Rescue Team and the Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Cleethorpes Town won the cup last year and Parramore have now successfully retained it for the NCEL.
Handsworth hit the front foot in the early exchanges against Bath-based Odd Down. Danny Buttle converted a penalty before Danny Holland applied the finishing touches to a fantastic move engineered by Colin Marrison and Buttle.
Odd Down’s hopes of a comeback were mortally wounded straight after half-time. The visitors were reduced to ten men as Adnan Hiroli handled and saw red for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. Parramore wasted the chance to score a third though as Buttle put his penalty wide.
Several chances followed, but it wasn’t until the final ten minutes that Parramore put the icing on the cake. Jon Froggatt’s flick-on enabled Kieran Wells to run in and score for goal number three.
New Parramore winger Tom Dugdale sealed it by reacting the quickest during a scramble.
