Yorkshire Amateur took a lot of heart out of the 3-2 defeat to Evo Stik Division One North side Farsley Celtic.
The Ammers trailed by three goals until a spirited fightback. A first minute tap-in by Peter Davidson set Farsley on their way. Former Ammers defender Paddy Miller then rose exceptionally to head home a Farsley free kick.
A mix-up in defence for Ammers enabled Paul Walker to score Farsley’s third in the second half.
Harrison Blakey triggered the comeback from the Ammers with a moment of brilliance when he unlocked Farsley with a cheeky nutmeg. He then threaded the ball through to player/coach Joel Hughes who took full advantage of the situation.
Hughes supplied Ammers’ second goal after getting the better of Miller. He passed to Salu Dawo and the new signing did the rest.
Tom Guest’s last minute winner completed Frickley Athletic’s comeback and secured a 3-2 victory at Maltby Main.
Maltby had led 2-0 at one point as Reilly and Ryan Poole had scored towards the end of the first half.
Luke Hinsley reduced the deficit on the hour mark with a tremendous strike from 25-yards.
Frickley were soon level when Nathan Curtis sneaked in at the back-post and headed home.
Even Frickley boss Karl Rose made an appearance and he missed an excellent chance to put his team in front. Fortunately for him, Guest got the winner after an impressive run from Tyler Williams.
