Parkgate 0-2 Hemsworth Miners Welfare
It took only 90 seconds for Hemsworth Miners Welfare to acclimatise to life in the Premier Division.
Nash Connolly’s opener and Del Pollock’s eighth minute header were all the Wells needed to get off to the perfect start in their historic league campaign.
Hemsworth’s Division One title win was built on stylish football and that theme ran right through the Wells’ dream start – with Connolly finishing a superb passing move..
Parkgate had no answer for Hemsworth and the home side were effectively dead and buried when Pollock struck on his debut by heading home Brice Tiani’s cross a short time later.
Although the half ended with striker Alex Lill firing over, Parkgate had few forays forward.
It did not get any better for Parkgate either in the second half. Led by Luke Danville and Harry Viggars at the back, Hemsworth more-or-less had everything under control.
The only aspect of the Wells’ play that was missing in the second half was their clinicalness in the final third.
