Spencer Fearn has taken sole control of Maltby Main after Mark Askwith resigned because of work commitments.

Childhood friends Askwith and Fearn came as a pair to Muglet Lane in May 2015  after a stint managing Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior League side Joker. Goalkeeping coach John Stancliffe is Maltby’s new assistant manager. Andy McKnight remains in the background as well.

Askwith said: “I’ve had a great time at Main and I am sad to leave, but I have a large number of work commitments, which means I cannot give the time a job like this needs. I wish all at the club the very best for the future”

Fearn added: “It is a blow that we received this news from Mark, but we fully understand that he has to focus on his business.

“Managing a club at our level takes a lot of time and energy and I know it is with a heavy heart that he has made this decision, we will certainly miss him.”
