Bridlington Town are into the second qualifying round for the first time since 2003 after winning 2-0 at old nemesis Newcastle Benfield.

Bridlington had previously lost to Benfield at the same stage in 2008 and 2014, but Gary Allanson cast history aside to pull off an impressive victory.

The financial rewards from the win are also a boost after a traumatic week which saw the Queensgate social club vandalised.

Andy Norfolk hit the opener for Brid early in the second half and it was their star striker Brett Agnew who sealed it in the dying minutes.

A late penalty denied Ossett Town as Billingham Synthonia snatched a replay.

Steve Ridley and Danny Frost’s strikes appeared to have sending Ossett through with ease, but Billingham hit back and the side will meet again at Ingfield on Tuesday night.

Farsley Celtic won 3-0 at struggling Sheffield FC. James Walshaw got two, while Lewis Nightingale raised his confidence levels with a goal.
