Quinn: It was a fitting tribute for Dan

A “fitting tribute” is how Brighouse Town manager Paul Quinn described the turnout for Dan Wilkinson at Shaw Lane AFC yesterday.

Quinn and club captain Adam Field led a 30-plus strong contingent from Brighouse out at kick-off, alongside Shaw Lane, Romulus, Dan’s parents and the match officials, for the minute’s silence.

Former Goole and Scarborough Athletic defender Dan collapsed during the Integro League Cup match at Brighouse on Monday night.

Despite an heroic effort from the two physios, several trained volunteers (some from Brighouse) and paramedics, Dan sadly passed away.

Quinn reflects on the emotional day and week for the whole of football during the interview.

He also looks ahead to getting his squad back focussed on playing. Brighouse return to action on Monday night against Hyde United. Their weekend game with Colne was postponed as a mark of respect.
