Bridlington Town powered into the FA Vase first round with a score-line that did not give a fair reflection of their dominance.

It was such a one-sided affair that Bridlington could have reached double figures. Joel Sutton and Brett Agnew toyed with Daisy Hill and the pair both got doubles. Bridlington’s talisman Tom Fleming rounded off the victory.

The only real disappointment for Bridlington was the manner of how they conceded two Ashley Stott goals.

For anyone who came to the last round’s win over Yorkshire Amateur, it must have felt like deja-vu. Daisy Hill played right into Bridlington’s hands by playing out from the back. Time after time the Bolton-based outfit lost the ball and paid the price.

That was the theme for the first quarter-of-an-hour. Agnew had acres of room for the deadlock breaker. After Joel Sutton blazed the ball out of the ground in a open goal situation, Agnew got his second after getting in behind Daisy’s defence.

Sutton soon made amends with help from one of the posts as Brid set themselves up for a big victory. Fleming took the plaudits for that goal as he crossed first-time as the ball headed out of play on the left-wing.

The Seasiders did take their foot off the gas towards half-time. Kamikaze goalkeeping from James Hitchcock, who raced 25 yards out to the wide of his goal, allowed Alex McPolin to cross for former Northwich Victoria striker Stott head into the empty net.

Hitchcock did make a good save shortly after to redeem himself and prevent an unlikely comeback from the visitors.

The second half was totally one-way traffic. Sutton, with a sweet half-volley, eased the tension straightaway.

Daisy goalkeeper Craig Haynes was then a busy man as the chances kept flowing for Bridlington. Veteran Haynes made the odd save, but Brid were guilty of poor finishing as clear-cut chances were going wide or high over the crossbar.

Sutton gave up the opportunity of sealing a hat-trick to tee up Fleming for the inevitable fifth.

Stott scored again for Daisy in a rare attack in the final few minutes.

Referee Robert Musgrove

It was an easy game for Mr Musgrove, but he was far too far from play at numerous points and was not good at letting the game flow. He gave several decisions from 25/30 yards when his assistants were next to play.
