Toolstation NCEL Division One
Worsbrough Bridge 1-2 Westella & Willerby
Zak Oakshott’s last minute header ensured ten man Westella & Willerby finally won their first game of the season, at the twelfth attempt.
The first half began with the two sides showing low confidence levels but Westella where soon on the front foot causing the home defence problems time and time again with the lively Kashilembo, Walker and Bennett all getting in behind and past their opposite number with ease.
Westella where causing no end of problems and just before half time the returning Andy Bagshaw hit a 30 yard effort that saw a finger tip save over the cross bar. Bennet took the out swinging corner and at the back post Oakshott headed back across goal to find the net.
The second half started end to end. Tom Bennett went through one on one and drew a good point blank save.
Young Josh Walker then went through on goal neatly lobbing the keeper only to be ruled offside.
On 70 minutes Westella’s energetic Chris Short got caught up in a melee that saw him receive his marching orders.
The hosts put immense pressure on the Westella back four and eventually found the equaliser on 84 minutes with a deflected effort finding the back of the net through Rob Oldham.
Two minutes later and a carbon copy of Westella’s first goal was repeated. Bennett the supplier and Oakshott again headed in off the bar to win the game.

”The winning result has been coming and after a challenging start it’s definitely a result we not only deserved but enjoyed.
”It’s the same three points available this coming Wednesday night when we take on Shirebrook at home and I will be demanding the same level of performance as we continue to move away from the foot of the league.”
