A club secretary became involved in a heated row with a completely naked referee in the middle of a changing room.
The amusing anecdote continues Non League Yorkshire’s look at volunteer workforces in Non League Football at a variety of different clubs.
The bizarre exchange is historical and not recent.
“It was unbelievable at the time, but you can laugh about it now,” a source said.
“He was wanting to get home from an away game, but had to wait for the cautions sheet from the referee.
“He had given the officials a bit of time to get showered before he went in, but they had been ages.
“He expected them to be finished so I knocked on the door and got invited in. The sheet was filled in, but ref had only just come out of the shower and he could have grabbed a towel.
“The shocked secretary collected it, but as he was quickly escaping, the ref engaged him in conversation about something what had happened in the match. Well, it escalated and they started having an argument.”
