Charlie Flaherty’s early goal was the difference in Eccleshill United’s controversial victory at Selby Town.

Selby were caught cold and exposed at the back after only six minutes, with Flaherty taking advantage to give his side the lead.

The best Selby chances fell to Ward and Crisp, but both failed to convert.

The game will be remembered for the second half sending off of Marcus Edwards, who saw red following a challenge on Gary Lumley and then an altercation with Selby goalkeeper Peter Lawrie. Edwards was then involved in a further fracas as he refused to leave the field after the red card was shown.

Going down to ten men did not derail Eccleshill as they successfully held on and even forced Lawrie into a few saves.
