Dave Ricardo gained revenge over his old club Selby Town as Hall Road Rangers got their promotion bid back on track.

Joe Cooper started the scoring on 26 minutes as he rose highest to head home a Jacob Vernon cross into the top corner for a well deserved 1-0 lead.

Vernon then turned goal-scorer himself bagging the the first of a brace on 36 minutes with a superbly taken volley to put the home side two to the good at the break.

Half time came and went and with Selby looking to press for goals, it came to Vernon to tap home a Chris Spinks neat cut-back for 3-0 on 61 minutes.

Danny Norton got the 4th on 64 minutes to round off the scoring for Rangers. Scott Jones managed a late consolation for Selby.

What They Said

Hall Road Rangers manager Dave Ricardo

“Today’s result was really pleasing on a number of reasons. Firstly the performance was for 80 minutes very professional.

“The lads were on the front foot throughout both in defence and attack. All three units won their collective and individual battles.

“Secondly it was great to see over 100 in the stands watching, the place looks fantastic with numbers backing the players. We’re working as hard as we can in terms of management and players, training throughout Christmas and New Years Eve, it makes it worthwhile when we get the three points in front of a decent size crowd.

“I believe we need to win 11 out of the 16 remaining games in order to gain automatic promotion. We need your support every step of the way.”
