There was controversy at Frickley too!

Frickley Athletic 0-2 Corby Town

Frickley Athletic manager Lee Morris

Frickley Athletic were defeated by fellow relegation candidates Corby Town in a game that had two major talking points.

Corby opened the scoring in the first minute with Jordan Crawford’s close range finish, but the video arguably shows that the game should have been stopped before the goal.

That’s because defender Macaulay Parkinson was accidentally caught in the head with stray boot in the penalty area. Even if the referee did not stop play, he should have stopped it because of a head injury. The defender lay comatose on the ground as Crawford was allowed to score. The injury was bad as Parkinson could not continue.

Frickley never recovered and Phillip Trainer extended Corby’s lead on the hour mark.

The bad day at the office was rounded off by the dismissal of new signing Reece Fielding, who was alleged to have denied a goal-scoring opportunity on the halfway line.
