Garforth Town striker Mark Simpson has won the Crawford HR January Player of the Month vote.
Almost 1000 votes were cast and Simpson narrowly beat Shaw Lane AFC midfielder Spencer Harris to win the trophy and bottle of red wine. Hall Road Rangers defender James Piercy and Ossett Town goalkeeper Leigh Overton weren’t far behind.
Thanks to everyone who voted.
Simpson enjoyed a fine month for Garforth as he hit seven goals in five games – including a hat-trick at Maltby Main. His displays coincided with Garforth enjoying their best run of form since 2012.
The monthly votes are a prequel to the grand finale of the Player of the Year vote in April which will see the winner take home £100 and a brand new trophy.
