Yorkshire Amateur 2-2 Hallam

Adam Shaw earned Yorkshire Amateur a point against Hallam

Young forward Adam Shaw earned Yorkshire Amateur a point against promotion-chasing Hallam at Bracken Edge.

The ever-improving Ammers, who had to fight back twice, deserved their draw for their second half performance.

The home side did start slowly and they found themselves behind early doors when Micah Bishop’s shot from outside the penalty area beat Suwara Bojang.

Bishop was Hallam’s main threat going forward, but he was unable the find the net again.

The Ammers showed how dangerous they can be towards the end of the first half. Diminutive magician Matty Dalton showed skill, pace and power on numerous occasions and he was rewarded after half-time as his well-struck effort beat Hallam goalkeeper David Darwent.

Hallam soon went in front again. The Ammers were unable to stop Matty Ord down the right and his cross was tapped home at the back-post by new signing Kieran Watson.

Some would have backed Hallam to go on and score again, but that did not happen as Shaw’s low drive wrong-footed Darwent and slowly nestled into the far left-hand corner.

Hallam, who need the points to stay in the promotion race, looked more likely to win it towards the end. Tom Roebuck’s header was the closest they came, but a late winner for Hallam would have been harsh on the Ammers.
