Crawford HR January Player of the Month Mark Simpson equalled a Garforth Town club record after scoring a penalty in the 4-1 win over Bottesford Town.
The fans’ favourite’s successful spot kick meant he has now scored in eight successive games for the Miners – a feat only matched by Richard Ramsden in 1997.
Simpson was presented with his Player of the Month trophy and bottle of red wine prior to kick off by Non League Yorkshire’s James Grayson.
The young striker was a fair winner as he found the net seven times in five appearances. He even scored after just 14 seconds in the 5-1 win over Maltby Main.
His red hot form coincided with Garforth enjoying their best form since the glory days under Steve Nichol.
The monthly awards are the build up to the grand finale of a Player of the Year award which will see the winner take home £100 and a brand new trophy.
